Telling Our Stories Truthfully Is Never Futile with the Lord

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalms 27:14

A guide before launching into a new creative project

Here is another post referencing my takeaways from the SoCal Christian Writers’ Conference at Biola University in La Mirada.

What if God gave us our unique gifting to get to know Him? This question is one that is not asked enough. Allen Arnold of Ransomed Heart Ministries beseeches creatives in the Lord to include God in all we do. His book, The Story of With: A Better Way to Live, Love, & Create, describes in very profound ways the transformative messages anchored in identity, creativity, and intimacy with God.

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. Psalms 27:14

How we create is affected by the realm in which we spend the most time in – either the orphan realm or the son realm. The orphan realm is devoid of God and the son realm is with Him.

We fight a losing game when we’re in the orphan realm because we are in the flesh creating without His blessing. However, we relinquish control in the freedom realm, as a child of God.

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

Allen Arnold uses the art of Kintsugi as a metaphor for the life of a creative child of God. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. The metaphor Arnold uses for it is as treatment of breakage and repair as part of the history of our lives, rather than attempting to hide and conceal that brokenness.

Enter our scars.

The scars of our story become the source of our strength for our wounds become weapons of light. Therefore, we need to tell our stories as truthfully as possible. And we need to create with the Father’s direction, in fellowship with Him. After all, the universe was birthed in creative fellowship, wasn’t it?

Who would you be if the world didn’t tell you who you are?
